Haiti Earthquake Update
Les Cayes Tent City MFO Ambassador Trip

MFO residents traveled to Les Cayes on Saturday, September 2, and distributed staple supplies of rice, beans, dried fish, cooking oil, medicine, and clothing to people living temporarily in a tent city. It was a rewarding experience for nine of our older residents to help their fellow Haitians.

Many earthquake survivors lost everything and are now living in makeshift tents. Our residents saw first-hand the devastation and ruins of the Les Cayes city – where buildings have fallen, deep cracks have damaged roads making driving treacherous, and landscapes on the mountains have been altered from landslides.

Wearing yellow and white t-shirts touting “Reception Center of Maison Fortuné,” they shared time with earthquake survivors young and old, spreading goodwill and hope.

A Haitian proverb comes to mind:

“Sa je pa wé ké pa tounen”
translation: What the eye doesn’t see doesn’t move the heart.

The MFO Ambassadors saw the devastation in Les Cayes and how it impacted their fellow Haitians.
Thank you for helping us raise $5,000 for the Ambassador Trip!
Supplies were much appreciated by the earthquake survivors.
Our MFO resident’s servant hearts shone brightly!
